After
thinking back and forth, thumbing numerous travel guidebooks and weighing our
options, we decided to spend our two-week vacation in Mexico. We just weren’t
up to preparing an agenda, going on a tour, driving around, or doing sightseeing.
Instead, we flew to Mexico City, spent a weekend with our favorite
Japanese-Brazilian friends in D.F. and went on to Cancun for an 11 days all
inclusive beach vacation. This is usually not our scene but it was the best
decision we have taken in a long time.
We enjoyed
the sun, swam in the turquoise water of the Carribean, took long walks along
the picture-perfect beach, had a few Margaritas, slept late, ate great food,
did sports, lay reading under an beach umbrella for hours … and just relaxed.
The husband
had to call into a few work-related telephone conferences and I organized our
temporary apartment for the first two months in Germany, but apart from that we
were just obscenely lazy. It was perfect, and we actually managed to disconnect
and recharge before the relocation madness picks up speed.
